Kristina and Jeff’s Love Story Deets and Advice for Future Couples Getting Married!

1. How did you meet each other? Please share any fun or juicy details of your love story!

Kristina’s Story:

I had just started working when I spotted a handsome handlebar mustache from across the manufacturing floor. Immediately I had the biggest crush! I needed to have an excuse to talk to him in order to lure him into asking me out. Fortunately, we started to work together when I took on a project that needed Jeff’s electrical engineering expertise. During our time working together, I tried SO hard to get us to hang out together! I knew that he enjoyed running so I formed a work team for a mud run as an excuse to see him outside of work. Of course, I was too awkward during the run to talk to him.

Finally, after months of blushing whenever we were around each other and getting excited over an accidental leg brush (both, unbeknownst to each other), I finally got the courage to ask Jeff out. Our first date was so romantic. We had drinks at Wynkoop Brewery, crashed by Jeff’s friends, and ended with some epic dance moves at Cowboy Lounge. I apparently impressed Jeff with my white-girl dance moves because he asked me to go to a dinner/silent auction a week later.

Jeff’s Story:

I first noticed a pretty young thing walking around the halls at work and just figured she was some sales person because there’s no way a girl that pretty is an engineer. I noticed her more and finally figured out she was an engineer. Lucky for me she kept coming back to me for information about one of our products. She lured me into doing the Insanity Mud Run with the promise of cookies. I’m so glad I signed up for that run even though I never got those cookies because I had a blast hanging out with her.

Kristina awkwardly asked me out for drinks after work. I didn’t think it was much more than drinks because Kristina said she was going to her friend’s house warming party. However, she kept delaying leaving and we ended up having a blast making fools of ourselves at the Cowboy Lounge. I just couldn’t resist asking her out again.

2. Best memory of your Willow Ridge Manor wedding?

There are SO many!  One of my favorites was when the DJ played our favorite Irish drinking song “Seven Drunken Nights”by Sin e Ri Ra.  Both the young and the old were jumping around the dance floor stomping their feet and shouting the lyrics at their significant other.  Even my parents (divorced) had a blast dancing and singing to each other during it!

My other favorite was our vows.  My  husband’s best friend married us, and we looked into meaningful speeches and quotes.  I can’t even begin to describe how much love we felt when we were looking  into each other’s eyes and holding hands during the ceremony, hearing those words spoken to us; they were able to describe our love and the future that we wanted wanted with each other so perfectly.  Jeff’s favorite part was the first look because we were able to have alone time together.

3. Advice to future couples as they plan their wedding?

  • Don’t sweat the small stuff!  I never once looked at our table decorations and didn’t notice any of the other decorations we set up.  The simpler you are, the less you worry about on the days up to the wedding.

  • We did a “unique” guest book where we had people write down “an idea, a plan, but most importantly an adventure to add to our lifetime bucket list” and leave them in envelopes.  We read them the day after the wedding and it was awesome!  I cried more (of happiness) reading them than I did at the wedding!  And it is so cool that we can pick out of a basket for our next vacation and many more to come!

  • If you have a lace dress, it’s a good idea to get the bustle hemmed a tiny bit higher than normal. Your bridesmaids are likely to not tie it as tight as the seamstress does. My heel kept getting stuck in the back of it the whole night!  Speaking of heels, buy invisible heel straps to keep your heels on all night.

  • Something is going to go wrong, and trust me, you shouldn’t care, those are going to turn into hilarious memories.  I’ve heard of so many brides having such high expectations and then ruin the wedding for themselves when something goes wrong; you don’t want that!  In our wedding, the caterer apparently almost dropped the cake (I didn’t even notice but was told by tons of guests), the bus left without my bridal party (they were sufficiently intoxicated and rolling around on the floor in the bridal room at the end of the night, my husband and I passed the bus on the highway and I had to call it to turn back around…extremely hilarious now), and our officiant called my husband a “her” instead of “him” during the “Do I promise to love [him] etc. etc.”  Some champagne helped with a witty response to that! Anyways, the point is…the day is not going  to be perfect, you should NOT expect it to be, and make sure to go into it ready to laugh at and embrace the things that go wrong!

  • Delegate, delegate, delegate!  You do not want to think about doing anything on your wedding day.  Also… pack up your “getting ready” items before the ceremony starts.  That way, when your ride arrives everything is together and you just have to grab it!  I relied on my bridesmaids…big mistake!

4. Where did you go on your honeymoon? What was your favorite part?

We went to Barbados. The best part for both of us was getting scuba certified while we were there.  Now I love it!
